Gerita Horne, lovingly known by most as "G", was born and raised in Park City, UT. She developed a love for the arts at a young age and was exposed to all sorts of different mediums. It was in high school when she discovered her passion for photography which quickly became the center of her life. Getting an internship with a prominent and very talented portrait photographer really helped to develop her skills and hone in on her talent. She went on to study photography at the University of Utah and also spent 6 months studying art in Rome, Italy. When G came stateside she got a job as a photographer at a portrait studio in Salt Lake City and quickly became the manager. After 5 years with the studio she decided to go it solo and Portraits By G was born. Specializing in family and children's portraits, G has since been developing her business with the help and support of Joe Horne, her co-manager and husband. In June of 2011, G had the opportunity to travel to Kenya with a humanitarian group called Kenya Keys and spent a month working with kids and promoting education. While there, the people of Kenya gave G the name Masika, meaning born during the rainy season, or prosperous season of rain. She brought her images back to Utah with her and her images from Kenya become the product line titled "Masika" which made an appearance at the Park Silly Sunday Market in Park City, Utah in 2012. Today the business is ever growing and maturing and Portraits By G hopes to eventually have the opportunity to meet your family and photograph some of your most cherished moments.
